Too many innovation efforts fade once the initial project ends. To make innovation truly stick, I use the Four Quadrants of Leadership Accountability Framework at both the strategy design stage and throughout the entire innovation journey:
- Mindset – the beliefs and assumptions leaders hold about innovation.
- Behaviours – the daily actions and habits that set the tone.
- Culture – the shared environment where innovation flourishes or fails.
- Systems – the processes, structures, and incentives that sustain it.
By addressing all four quadrants from the very beginning and reinforcing them at every stage, innovation stops being a one-off initiative and becomes part of how the organisation thinks, acts, and operates — ensuring long-term impact.
